Creating the 'messy look'?

Yet another hair question :D

I'm thinking of creating the messy look (got kind of shortish hair)... how best to do it and what to use?

I have hair spray, wax, gel... which is best to use to create this messy look?

How is it best to keep it looking messy (rather than going down flat again?).

You need layers and preferably a kind of fringe for that! If youre hair is long enough youcan even create a messy bun! The only thing you need is a straightner for the fringe (leave the rest wavy) or just have it way, and leave in conditioner!

Hm. That also depends on the place where you live. Humidity wreaks absolute havoc on your hair, so if you live in a place where it's super humid, then you might have to reconsider listening to this answer. :D

Anyway, you should start with slightly damp hair. Put a small amount of wax in your palm and rub your hands vigorously together. Smear the wax through your hair, styling it and shaping it to the way you want it to look. When you're happy, take a hair dryer and dry your hair with cool air. That sets the style. If you want a super hold, spritz just once with hairspray and you're good to go.
